    Noctilucent show

Went to my favorite spot to chase some noctilucent clouds. Best show i have seen for a while. Lasted way over 2 hours and the coverage of them was quite nice.

Sorry for being away for a while. Starting back up with a shot of Alcatraz I took while on vacation.

Not as many entries this week but each one has interesting aspects and it is always a bit of a challenge to pick just one but I am giving the top spot to "Testing the New Lake" by Jayson. I really like the light, the composition and the processing which is reminiscent of a Norman Rockwell painting. Very creative.

Thank you Joel! Very good photos this week...lots of landscapes. What was fun was this guy caught a little fish right in front of me as I was snapping away. There were two paragliders in the top left side of the frame. It was crazy busy there as this this was a brand new lake that was 2 years in the making for flood control and it had just opened.

Congrats Jayson! Interesting to hear the description, I never even noticed the paragliders. Strange to me to hear about a "new" lake and just being opened. New concept to me as that is not something done around here.

The Resource district builds dams along rivers that flow through Omaha for flood control as the city grows. This has been a 4 year project. They are building another one about 5 miles further up another tributary to this one that should be done in 2024. It's pretty flat in this area and the way the rain has been increasing in intensity over the past 4 or 5 years, it would have really caused some damage. We don't necessarily get more rain, but when it comes, it comes in 2 to 4 inches at a time compared to .5 to 1inch in years past.
