    2018 - Image of the Week #46

Welcome to TDP forum's "Image of the Week" competition. Each week photographers may submit their images to compete for the title of "Image of the Week." Weekly winners will then compete on a monthly, quarterly, and, finally, in our annual poll for the title of "TDP Image of the Year."

    • The Week 46 entry period will be from Monday, November 12th through/including Sunday, November 18th.
    • Please supply a title for your image.
    • This is an open competition for landscape, portrait, architectural, macro, and any other appropriate photographic style.
    • Images should have been either recently taken or processed.
    • Enter as many times as you would like.

This week will be judged by Kayaker72.

    Thanks and Good Luck!

I am glad we share the judging load for the weekly contests. I would not want to be doing it every week.

Again, I could have, and did, make cases for several of these to be this weeks winner. In the end, I am picking "Young Bull" by NFLD Stephen. Congratulations Stephen!

Looking at the wildlife pics, it seems to me the eyes are very expressive.
Cooper's Hawk is focused on something of concern - food or otherwise.
The Moose is clearly a bit of a "are you sure you are to be standing there" type of look to me.
The northern flicker is like some grand dame "oh young man, if you must" type of look.
The junko seems just bored with the whole effort.

really like the grand dame flicker look.

    Just my two pennies.

Thanks Brant and Joel! Awesome pictures from everyone again this week. Always amazes me the consistent quality of these informal contests.

Mike: I appreciate your interpretation of the eye expressions. I don't think it is entirely the eyes expression which is giving those perceptions though. For example, the Northern Flicker having the head tipped up really lends to your vivid interpretation. (The back leg position adds to this as well I think). I'm not disagreeing with your about the eyes, but I think much of the rest of the head and body positioning can be just as expressive. Having said that, one of the reasons I liked my particular moose shot was because of the eye clarity in this one with part of the whites showing to help balance out the brown eyes against the brown head.
