I considered a random drawing to choose the winner this week, since every entry is worthy. Certainly all are technically excellent.

September Sunset projects such calm for an urban scene, and Sunrise Squall unusual energy for a mountain lake. Both birds have a whimsical appeal and of course the pug is darling.

Many waterfall shots fail to engage me much, but the geometry of Avalanche Falls, the hint of fall color in the background, the cool mossy foreground, and the lighting pattern all work together for an outstanding image.
