    Colorful couple

    Female and Male Summer Tanagers
    R5 + Canon EF 600mm f/4L
    1/200
    iso 4000
    f/4.0

I have had a pair of Summer Tanagers for several seasons and in the past been able to get images of them individually. This is the first time I was able to capture them both in a single image

Joel, how awesome to get two of them in one shot! They are beautiful birds. I can only think of the excitement as they were on the perch together. I'm usually too excited to have the perfect shot sitting in front of me and miss it If both (just my personal preference and take that with a grain of salt) would have been in focus or even a stacked photo with both that would have been a no brainer this week. Don't take that as a critique as you captured this beautifully.

Zach, I really like the DOF on that flower.

This week, I am going to have to go with Brant's flamed colored Tanager. I really liked the pose and detail of this shot! Congrats!

Excellent choice....Congrats Brant....beautiful bird well captured!

Jayson....thanks for your ideas but, to me, it might look unnatural to have both birds in focus since they were perched pretty far apart....anyway it was a moment that lasted just a few seconds so I just pressed the button and hoped for the best. AF eye tracking caught the female's eye perfectly and I kinda like the juxtaposition with the male out of focus.
