All,
I was shooting a video on my back-up camera as totality came and went on Monday using an old Rebel T2i. Unfortunately, the exposure continuously adapted to keep the lighting about the same....
Saw mention of the f/8 AF on center point. Is that confirmed? For those of us on a budget it would be really nice to use AF with a 2X teleconverter on an f/4 lens.
Bryan, please feel free to include this information or not as you see fit.
Edit: I'd also like to add that if you're going to suggest people weight themselves snorkeling the smart thing to do is...
Bryan,
I think you sold short the idea of remaining upside down while underwater. Many scuba divers I've ever dived with will hang out upside down for most of their dive to get their mask close to...
@jrw Thanks for the details. I'll dig into them. Sadly, there's nothing interesting about what I'm doing. The company I work for uses off-the-shelf SLR lenses at times as OEM equipment that we...
@jrw Thanks for the advice. However, nothing completely obvious jumps out at me. Any direct URLs or charts you could provide would be most helpful.
Folks,
I'm trying to find information for a bunch of lens mounts regarding the minimum distance between the back element and the sensor. For instance, both the EF and EF-S specification gives the...
Thanks all-
It's weird that after 30k shots with this lens that it's decided to rattle. I'll keep an eye on it but I think so long as the IS and AF work properly I won't worry about it.
Hi All,
Haven't posted here in a while but I need some input. I've got a 70-200L IS f/4.0 lens that I've used the heck out of. This weekend I noticed something odd. When I'd tilt my camera it felt...
Or you mount an IR laser that's just out of the visible range inline with your lens. Then you have the laser pre flash for you by a hundred milliseconds. Everyone's pupils will contract in response...
Looks snug for travel but not so easy to swap.
Give me the AF system of the 5DIII and the 1D-X with the current FPS (8?) on an 18 MP APS-C sensor and I'd consider that a proper 7D II. And that wouldn't even require much in the way of engineering...
Rocco - it's really not as impressive or interesting as you might think. I've got my SLR slaved to my computer and some other "stuff." It snaps a picture every 5 - 7 seconds for a few (5+) hours. The...
I'm getting an Error-20 on my T2i now every time I try and use Live View or go into video mode. It could be the shutter mechanism. My camera made an awful screech every time it went into Live View...
I recall as a child making a perfectly passable pinhole camera to "see" the eclipse. I have to imagine that with a perfect pinhole (from an optical supplier not the hole I made with the sharp end of...
Folks,
Can anyone tell me how to set DPP to use the EXIF data for the time the shot was taken for the date modified stamp in Windows (if possible)? Shy of that, does anyone have a favorite tool...
@GBC shoot a picture of some starts. They should come out the same spacing on your photos. Other than that it's a crap shoot.
Joel,
The end-all-be all of printing for long-life use is pigment printing. However, it may take an iteration or three with a service that provides such a service before you get tonal balance...
FYI candles don't soot very well unless you blow them out. The bright yellow region of a candle flame is high in soot (it's the hot soot that's glowing yellow) but a well-designed flame finishes the...
I see condensed nicotine, water vapor and/or soot particles.
Perhaps I've been in the fluid mechanics and diagnostics industry for too long?
@kickasskev day or night isn't the issue. The problem is nighttime is usually dark. Outside on a partially cloudy day at noon might not seem that bright since the sun isn't directly shining but your...
@kickasskev You provided a shutter speed of 1/125 for what focal length lens? If you're "pixel peeping" the rule of thumb of 1 / (effective focal length) is not fast enough. Try 1/1000 or faster and...
Heck, I think I paid $2 for a basic ir remote. I bought 4 figuring they wouldn't last long. I'm on my second set of batteries from my first one!
@DrC don't 'shop out the reflection! That's the thing that makes it a picture and not a magic wand cutout from any old shot. I would darken the background a bit on the right side though.
For a...
