Neuro- I'm super excited to see your article on this. I have yet to take advantage of that with my 7D. I have been considering purchasing the LensAlign MKII Focus Calibration System (Link: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/747316-REG/LensAlign_LA_LA2_LensAlign_MkII_Focus_Calibration. html) for that purpose. Do you see any advantages to this system over the cheaper SpyderLensCal system? Or should I save my money and buy Datacolor product? I know there are home made solutions out there, but I would much rather purchase a ready made system and get it right the first time.

Anyone with experience with either of these products/companies, please chime in.

    Hi Rocco (and Bob),

I agree - I think a commercial tool is the best choice. Disclaimer: I

The site gate is pretty huge. Just remember to take the ruler off first. I scoffed at the sticker. After about the second or third jab, the idea seemed more plausible.

I just took some photos of ducks in my front garden yesterday with the 70-300mmL. It always seems to front-focus for birds, maybe because the AF point is at their chest and their head is further away and OOF. I tried putting the AFMA at +2 and the images turned out great.

    Hope that helps...

    John,

Thank you for weighing in. I didn't realize that the LensAlign had the sight gate feature and what exactly that meant. Absolutely, I have very little time.. and I'd gladly pay the extra to spend a little less time doing things of that nature, and spend more time shooting. There's a LensAlign in my future.

    Thanks a bunch!
