Sandisk made them, too, but you're right about the lack of availablity. Personally, I use an ExpressCard/34 CF reader (from SIIG). There is a Lexar FW400 CF reader available, and even FW400 will be substantially faster than USB2 for sustained data transfer.

I keep my 512mb flash drive around as nostalgia. Cost me $150 back in 2004 (I think) and is equipped with the mighty USB1.0. I never thought there would be a day when USB2.0 would be too slow!
