A little update on a 32Gb Transcend 400X that went belly up a while ago.


I sent it to Transcend, based in California, with the request that it be sent to Hong Kong. There, the technicians would attempt to recover the files from it. They said it would take 3 months or more to accomplish this. If they couldn't recover the files (no guarantees on that), they would still replace the card with a new one.


I recently got an email from them, stating that, unfortunately, they could not recover any files. I received a new card.


At the moment, it's sitting inside it's plastic case, collecting dust. I doubt I will use it. I don't have a level of confidence to overcome my suspicions that this new card might also go belly up (the first one did, in less than a month, and I handled it with great care).
