580 MK 2 flash problem

Bought my flash a while ago but due to other commitments havnt used it much. Had a play with the fn sub menues to shoot a portrait. Problem is, it wont re set to ETTL no matter what i try. Mode buttons, sub menus nothing. The screen always shows a fn sign and will go to multi or E but not ETTL.

Hi Mick,


I haven't come across the same issue but it might pay to clear the speedlite's custom settings. To do this you need to have the 580 exII attached to your camera hotshoe and go to Menu >> External Speedlite Control >> Clear All Speedliite C.Fn's.

Another thought actually, check to see if you have C.FN 5 set to 0. That sets the flash metering mode to E-TTL. I have the C.Fn symbol displayed on mine all the time because I have a couple of things tweaked but I've never had an issue setting metering mode to E-TTL.
