    wireless shutter release

What I need is very, very simple. I need a way to trigger the camera wirelessly. But the following conditions must be satisfied:
    1. Distance > 75 feet / 25 meters, not line-of-sight; so IR remote not feasible.
    2. Must be reasonably cheap. < $50.
    3. Lightweight. Can't weigh more than a pound.

I don't need ETTL, or flash, or anything else. I'm even willing to forgo autofocus--I will prefocus with Live View if necessary. It just has to be trigger the shutter at medium range and not cost an arm and a leg. I have two PocketWizard FlexTT5s and in theory you can use them to trigger the shutter but as far as I can tell, I need a cable to connect the one mounted on the camera's hotshoe to some port on the side of the body. And this cable costs $100.

    I was like...$100 for a CABLE?!?!

It amazes me that Canon cannot put a decent wireless receiver in their camera bodies. The 5D2 has its IR sensor located in the freaking ARMPIT of the camera, right between the grip and the mount. They might as well have put it inside the tripod mount hole. Ridiculous.

Use your Pocketwizards and this cable from flashzebra (it's within your budget constraints).

Costs $50, works from ridiculously far away, and is very light and portable. I love mine.

These are only simple cables. I bought one on ebay for just a few dollars. no need to buy a PW brand, there is nothing special about them.

$10 with shipping. Make sure you get one with the N3 connector like this one.
