Thread: Off Topic...Feel like you're being nickle and dimed to death???

It's not nickel and dimed. It is more like $50-ed and $100-ed to death. My wife asked for my "wishlist" of camera gear, and then commented that there are no small things on the list. Unfortunately, the small things, like batteries, filters, remote shutter release, are $50-100 apiece. I bet you couldn't even get a logo keychain for a small price.

Why not 4? Polarized sunglasses are actually dual-function - neutral density and polarizing, and there are 2 lenses.

Aren't those arguments complicated a bit: "dual-function", "neutral density", "polarizing".

Mine are simple: "honey, you have 2 glasses and I have 2 glasses". []

My wife shoots too, but she shoots Nikon (she started before we met, what can I say?). The problem for us is that if I get a new lens/flash/whatever, she wants one too, only in the nikon version.

Twice the price and I can't even borrow her stuff without everything being backwards!

    Hi!

I see a positive side in it - she CAN NOT borrow your precious gear. []

There was an awesome post on POTN (alas, I'm not welcome there so I can't dig it up) where a guy was at work, and his wife had a friend visiting at the house. Wife called husband and said "Why do you have three cameras?"

His first thought: "Phew, she only found three cameras!"

I get stuck the other way, as my woman also shoots Canon. I bought a 7D in February with the thought that it'd become hers next year when I get a 1D4. I want a 24-70, but know that I can't sell my 24-105 to get it as she wants the 24-105. I want some super-telephoto glass, but know that I have to get us a second wide-angle (thankfully I've talked her into the 10-22 for now instead of the 14L) and a second telephoto (at least the 70-200/4IS is far cheaper than the 70-200/2.8IS, but I really wanted to get the 70-200/2.8IS II and give her the I) first. At least she doesn't like carrying heavy lenses, so I won't have to buy two of each as I move into 24-70 and the white primes.
We're a Canon/Profoto family: five cameras, sixteen lenses, fifteen Profoto lights, too many modifiers.
