    Thanks for the input everyone, I am relieved that no one thought it was my camera... I am hoping it stays an isolated incident. Sean, by the way the picture is of a cyborg family.

    What's the worry? The bottom left of the image seems fine. Just put your subjects there, and crop heavily. [:P]

    I had this happen to one image on a Sandisk card, but it never happened again on that card (properly inserted the card, properly removed the card from the camera, etc.).


    Maybe your card took the "red pill" and it's actually looking at the Matrix? []

    I agree I suspect this is a bad memory card.


    Do you:


    Format and erase it only in the camera


    Did you


    Remove it while it was formatting.


    Scrap the card and don

    Some years ago I had a Powershot A85 (great compact camera by the way) that took similar pictures and assumed the camera was broken after years of usage. I still have it though and will definitely try another card - never thought that could be the problem. Thanks for the info!
