HDNitehawk - Great shots. I really like the reflection in the water.

Why are the colors so much more saturated in the water as compared to the actual lights? Is that from the blur caused by the water motion which in escense just spreads the light out over a larger area resulting is slightly lower exposer for the lights in the water? It is interesting how the water just seems to pull out far more color. Regardless, it looks really nice.

When I started shooting, because of the ripple on the water I decided to do long exposures. I thought it was a better look than the rippled look.

Part of the reason they look saturated is that I purposly saturated it in post and turned contrast very low so that it gave it the appearance of a chalky reflection in the water.

The biggest reason they look so different is that the water is acting as a filter and diffusing the light, where the real lights are direct and constant. It is most likely picking up color out of the darker water as well. Maybe in this situation if I had used a ND graduated filter and brought the real lights down a stop or two it would have evened it out?

I think you are right... the Grad ND probably would have kept the lights from getting blown out and would produce colors in the lights evened out with the reflections. That would have been difficult to know ahead of time that without processing your shots. Thanks for sharing - it was not only nice pictures, but I learned something that I can apply later.
