    Thanks!
The EF-S 18-55 kit lens has a MFD of 25cm/0.8ft, the rest is cropped.
Why did you sell your macro? Not enough use?

Yeah too little use, too much weight in the bag and I needed the money to help fund my other hobby...a new mountainbike To be honest we have had very bad macro seasons the last two years so it had been used very little. I am currently looking if extension tubes are a good option. Otherwise I might be looking at a used 100mm (non-L) macro.

As for your kit-lens. It works pretty good. For fun(experimenting) you could take it off the camera, hold it reversed to your camera and take a shot. You can get very magnified pictures that way. You would need to have good light I think. A (pop-up)flash helps. There are even adapters on the market to attach your lens reversed to your camera. I would say, just try it out
