I am currently looking if extension tubes are a good option. Otherwise I might be looking at a used 100mm (non-L) macro.
As for your kit-lens. It works pretty good. For fun(experimenting) you could take it off the camera, hold it reversed to your camera and take a shot. You can get very magnified pictures that way. You would need to have good light I think. A (pop-up)flash helps. There are even adapters on the market to attach your lens reversed to your camera. I would say, just try it out![]()
