    The new Macbook Pros aren't upgradable (post purchase) as the RAM is soldered in. That's why I went with the 16gb option for my new one. It FLIES!
    I wouldn't be surprised if pretty soon there are instructions on ifixit on how to use a soldering iron for that. I definitely don't like soldering but was able to replace three capacitors in my TV with instructions from the interweb.

    Yes, indeed. Just like yours, 3 caps needed replacing. When I saw a youtube video on how to do the fix, I plunged right in. It's back up to speed now.
