This shot is just 8 hours old.... a pair of Perseids from last night's show. I was up for two hours, with the camera shooting continuously, before snagging this great reward. I was trying different settings through the night, starting with 30 seconds at ISO 400, then 15 seconds at ISO 1600, and finally 8 seconds at ISO 3200 (which is this shot). Of course the higher the ISO, the brighter the meteors will appear. I used my spiffy new 24 mm f/1.4 prime, wide open. This view is just a half mile from my front door, by the way.... I do like living here!

Really cool shot. I have been think a lot lately of taking pictures like the one you posted here, and it is that desire that has put this lens at the top of my wish list. However, I may have to opt for the sigma 18-35 f/1.8 instead since it seems to look better on a crop body based on Bryan's testing, and his review he posted today. Again... well done, and well worth the couple of hours.
