Is that how that works. I'll have to have a word with Dad next time we visit.

I went to Kenosha today and came away with some pictures I liked. Four of my favorites are below:

#1 Water splashing against the rocks of the Lake Michigan shore line using 60D, 28mm f/1.8 @ f/11.

#2 Lake Michigan and blue sky in the background with a red tree in the foreground taken using 60D and 28mm f/1.8 @ f/8.

but your comment does remind me-
I have seen a photographer from a VW magazine at a couple shows walking around with a ladder

and although I've not seen it.. perhaps attaching to tripod setting timer and lifting tripod into air and hope for best

Anyone done either of those? better ideas for gaining height for a shot?
These shots were taken with the timer set to 10 seconds. The camera was mounted on a monopod and then stuck into the corn rows from outside the field.

Denise, that is a delicious looking cake. Never had the pleasure of trying that kind.

Dave, I think it's an issue with flickr, but your shots don't load for me and when I click on the link and go to flickr, I still can't see them. I think it's flickr being very slow, though. I've had lots of problems accessing images there lately.

Mark, I really like the first one that shows the whole corn row. That is a great idea with the monopod.

Thanks, Jayson. The key is to have a big DOF so there's no worries about focus. That shot was taken with a Rokinon 8mm FE set at f8, so virtually everything was in focus.

I've done this. Easier if you have a light tripod and lots of light.
