Thank you. It was a bit tricky. The sun was just above the frame. I tried shading with my hand above the hood but still had a bit of flare to contend with. The mist from the falls was also picking up a bit of the sun, obscuring detail in the rocks. Quite a bit of variation from shot to shot. All good fun!

Two pictures taken this weekend on Réunion island.

The first I'm quite happy with. 500D, 70-200 F/4 IS @ 1/4000, F/4, 200 mm ISO1600


The second while not very well framed or exposed does have a fun moment of "oh there was a bird in the hole in the clouds" when looking through the pictures in the evening. 500D, 17-55 F/2.8 IS @ 1/4000, F/3.2, 42 mm, ISO 1250

The snow finally came back this week. I took advantage of my first day of ski to take some pictures. Here is the Mont Blanc again.

Here is a lighthouse at the top of the lower peninsula of Michigan. In the background is the suspension bridge that connects the upper and lower peninsulas. It was taken in October - no time to deal with it until now.

The "M" is a pretty darn capable camera. In terms of IQ, I liken it to the 7D, which isn't that surprising considering that they both have 18 MP cropped sensors. It's funny, but as a hobbiest, ultimate IQ isn't always the driving factor for me in my selection of gear. I enjoy the actual act of shooting with a dSLR more than I enjoy shooting with the M. Granted, I also like the benefits of FF over a crop sensor, lens selection, etc. Here, my wife and I were headed out to dinner, but I knew I would want a shot of the sunset behind Boston. Taking the 5DIII really wasn't an option so I took the "M". That is the niche it fills for me.
