So yesterday i was a good day for my Canon kit.
On thursday i posted on CL a car i wanted to sell. A 2000 911 Convertible for 34k (Canadian). I bought it on eBay last year, had my fun and it was time to get rid of it before the harsh Canadian winter.
Friday morning someone calls me at 7am, comes to see it at noon, off to porsche dealer at 3 and we are at the bank at 5.
By 7pm the car was transferred to his name and delivered to his house. I was actually stuck outta town with no car but he was nice enuf to give me 20$ for cab fare to the subway.
While on the subway i thought....i just made 34k and lost a toy.... so i got off the subway, switched trains and-->MUST GET INSTANT GRATIFICATION..so off to the Canon Pro dealer.
Ive been reading this site for a while and this is my first post. I find the reviews on here are second to none in description, comparisons and details...thanks whoever you are.
There were a few lenses i had in the back of my mind: namely:
85mm F1.2L II
24-70mm F2.8L IS
135mm F2 L
300mm F4 L
70-200mm L IS II
My current kit consists of:
5D Mk II
Sigma 50mm F1.4 (great lens..on par with my old canon 50mm f1.2)
Canon 28-70mm F2.8 L
Canon 70-200mm F4 IS
Once there i saw the huge box for the 70-200 II and asked to see it. It was a SOLID lens that felt like build quality was bullet proof. I decided to go that way and upgrade my F4 IS. I figured it wouldnt be as bad since i can sell my F4 IS and get back almost half of what the 2.8 II costs as opposed to adding another 2k lens to my kit.
When i got home i noticed that my GF who went away for the weekend took my 5d mk II with her..Argh..So now im plawing around the house with a 70-200mm II on a Canon Digital Rebel XT which is smaller than the Lens Hood of the lens. Pics are good, a real tribute to the lens but im dying to get my camera back.
Well this is my story and ill post pics as soon as i can. I dont regret spending the money for such a quality product even though im not a pro photographer just an amateur with an addictive gear hoarding personality.
