Went out to look for eagles yesterday. Saw about 22, mostly juveniles. I wasn't really planning on shooting, so I only took my 70-200 with me. This is all I shot:

Canon Eos 1DIII, Canon Eos 20D, Canon Eos T3i, Canon Eos M, Canon EF 400mm f5.6L, Canon EF 300mm f4L IS, Canon EF 70-200 f2.8L IS II, Canon EF 180mm f3.5L macro, EF Canon 24-70mm f2.8L, Canon EFs 60mm f2.8, Canon EF 50mm f1.4, Canon EF 50mm f2.5 compact macro, Canon EF 40mm f2.8, Canon EF-M 22mm f2, Canon 430EX II
I like the framing....giving the bird space to "fly into".
The sky is so intensely blue, did you do something in post processing to achieve this?
Nah, I had a B&W Kaseman circular polarizer on. Super bright day, so I wasn't too worried about shutter speeds.

JJ---That is one ragged looking hawk---but great photo-----Love the pelican shot-it's my Fav---nice job
Bob
I agree, Nice shots JJphoto. I also favor the Pelicans but the hawk's stare is cool. This is a Hairy Woodpecker from my yard this morning, also shot at 700mm!
Joel & JJ, your bird photos are always a pleasure to view!! Joel, you had me stumped on this one for a minute! I had to look up the difference between a hairy and a downy woodpecker so thank you for the education!
Denise
They do have nearly identical markings ... the Hairy is quite a bit bigger but unless they are side by side you can't tell that way.
Notice the length of the bill....on a Downy it will be less than half the front to back size of the head (ie it's very short) and the Hairy has a bill longer than half the head. Here is a Downy.....
