    Wildlife Shooting critique and H.C.S.C

I've been shooting here in FL [ip]for the past week (escaped from 3 feet of snow) and using a borrowed 400/5.6l have done some..... bird photography! (dang no bird emoticon!)

(Obviously) I'm not a pro, and would like to improve, any H.C.S.C (Helpful & Constructive Suggestions and criticisms) are welcome. Whatever needs to be fixed... tell me![H]

below are two of today's shots, taken with canon 50d.

    thanks!

Both are technically exposed just right as far as I can see.

With that said, the first one is really boring - mostly because of the angle you took it from.

Maybe you couldn't take it from a lower angle (ground level = best) and maybe you were just lazy or w/e reason you had. In any case, it's simply not that interesting image at all.

As Oren said, the technical side of the picture looks good, but they're not really exciting to look at, especially the first one.

Include some of the environment or go shooting during the golden hour. The point is that you should try to capture an image that looks less ordinary. I think most people have seen a heron in a feet of water. While at it, try - as said - to use a lower angle and during you composition, give your subject a space to look into.

    Happy holidays []

Thanks Oren and Joel...Criticism is always appreciated. I am going to Green cay Wetlands today and will try out some of those tips!
