    Is the EFS 15-85 any good?

    <p class="MsoNormal"]Hi All,<o></o>
    <p class="MsoNormal"]<o></o>
    <p class="MsoNormal"]This is the first time on this forum and I hope some of you
    can help me.<o></o>
    <p class="MsoNormal"]<o></o>
    <p class="MsoNormal"]I currently own a 500d/T1i with a 17-40L, 28-135IS and
    70-200F4L.<span>
    <p class="MsoNormal"]<o></o>
    <p class="MsoNormal"]My problem is picking either the 17-40 or 28-135 as my walk&rsquo;
    round lens? The 17-40 is always too short or the 28-135 is too wide at the
    short end. <o></o>
    <p class="MsoNormal"]<o></o>
    <p class="MsoNormal"]I am considering trading the two lenses and buying a 15-85?<span> This will go well with my 70-200 but I&rsquo;m
    worried in case I loose quality at the wide end.
    <p class="MsoNormal"]<o></o>
    <p class="MsoNormal"]Thanks

    The 15-85mm is a good lens, provided you haveadequate light. If you're going to shoot low-light/indoors with available light, you're better off looking at one of the f/2.8 zooms, such as Canon's 17-55, or the Tamron 17-50. Personally, I want to replace my kit lens with both the 15-85 and the Tamron 17-50. One for it's large range for general outdoor use, and one for it'slower light requirements for indoor use, of if I need the thinner DOF.

    Here's a comparison of the 15-85mm and your 28-135 on a 50D at 85mm. CLICKY. Mouse over the arrow, or the images to switch to the 28-135 lens. The 15-85 looks quite a bit sharper across the entire frame.
