<p style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;" class="MsoNormal"]<span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial;"]I recently purchased Canon 580 EX II, an upgrade from my 420 EX. Recently I have been playing with the wireless technology (using the built-in Canon wireless technology) and the 580 EX II fires the 420 EX in E-TTL mode flawlessly. Everything works great in E-TTL mode and I could not be happier.<o></o

<p style="margin: 0in 0in 0pt;" class="MsoNormal"]<span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Arial;"]My problems start when I set the 580 EX II to manual mode and try to fire the 420 EX, only the 580 EX II fires and not the 420 EX. I have double/triple checked the groups and channels to ensure they are in sync. I also verified that the 420 EX is in slave mode and the line of sight from the optical trigger. I realize the 420 EX has no manual mode as a standalone flash butdoes the 580 EX II control the 420 EX when the 580 EX II is in manual mode? I have done some searching but could not find any information on using the 420 EX in slave mode with a 580 EX II as master in manual mode. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
