    Photo Booths???

I have been seeing more and more of photographer setting up photo booths to boost print sales during receptions/dances at weddings in my area. I was wondering if anyone on here has tried this and if so, any luck?

I am shooting a wedding next month and thought I would give it a try. I was planning on setting a spare camera I have in the corner with a simple white background and single flash with either umbrella or softbox. Then during the time after the couple is announced at the reception to time around eating, letting people give it a try and then continuing this sometime during the dance. I am just considering this since. The last couple of weddings I shot there was a little down time and I thought this might be a funexperiment.

Thought I would throw it out there before trying it to see if anyone else is doing it and if it is worth the time and effort. This is my cousins wedding so I don't think it will be that big of deal if I were to experiment with this, but you never know.

    What are your thoughts?

    Thanks,

    Jayson

<div>Definitely check with the couple before hand. I can't imagine they would care (they would probably love the idea), but it is a good idea to check with them first. Don't want bridezilla on your hands for drawing all the attention away from her during her reception with your awesome photobooth idea.</div>

I haven't done it myself, but I think it is a fun way to get people involved. I looked at doing something like this for my own wedding, but it was way too expensive to get an actual booth and the photographer we went with didn't offer the service.

I'd say give it a try. A family member's wedding is perfect to give it a shot and work out the kinks.

Be sure to providea white board and dry erase marker so that the subjects can write personalized messages to the happy couple. Be careful to designate the area for the photo booth--put up cones or ropeoff the area. You don't want people tripping over your equipment (easy to do when people have had a little too much to drink).

Never thought of the white board for messages. Thanks. I was definitely going to ask if I could give it a try. My kids are going to be at the reception, so I might not be able to do it as they always want to be around daddy. We'll see.

Thanks for the responses. Good Ideas!
