    Camera settings problem...

Iwas out just messing around with myWIFE's 5d mark ii.

I was shooting in raw mode the whole time. I would go back and forth between manual and automatic just to see what the different camera setting would be on automatic compared to what i would have them for manual based on the same setting. Sometimes i would take 15 in manual, then 20 in automatic...no real pattern to my madness at all. Just out having fun.

I took close to 300 pictures. When i uploaded the pictures in to adobe bridge for processing there was a block of pictures in the middle(about75) that were in jpeg. How does that happen? I went back and the camera setting are in raw. I stuck the card back in the camera just to make sure the camera setting were in raw. Not sure what to make of this.

    thanks

Normally, when you shoot in Auto---it will automatically go to Jpeg---I have done the same thing without thinking about what I was shooting. Also, it is very easy to switch modes without realizing it.

I had that problem on earlier Canon cameras, like the original 5D, but never on the 5D2. I, too, am stumped about how it happened, because the RAW setting stays the same (RAW) for me, whether on green box mode or Manual mode. The ability to leave it in raw when on greenbox mode is one of the features that I really appreciate about the 5D2 -- it allows me to give the camera to someone else to take a few pictures without losing the ability to fix it in post.

One possibility is if you set it to one of the custom modes by accident ("C1","C2", or"C3"). Those modes can indeed have a different setting than the others.

    Hope that helps,

That was the only thing i could come up with as well. Maybe i had it on one of the custom modes. I'll have to check that out to see if their set to JPG. I know when i put the camera in automatic, the setting still said raw. Who knows, like i said, it's my wife's camera. It's hard telling what she has done to it.
