I hope you don't mind me posting another Iconic Photo

The person who shot this photo is an acquaintance of mine. He was one of the lead Sports Photographers for the New York Daily News for about 45-50 years.
He also shot events when they were in town and he shot the above photo that ran on the front page as I posted above. He also gave me an autographed print copy that I have in my house. The photo that I have is the one on the right of the lower thumbnails, that doesn't have the Daily News Headline on it.
I always enjoy talking photography with him. He's about 75-80 years old now.
So, I asked him what's the best advice that you could give someone to get the front or back page of the newspaper. He told me that he aways shot film and as the newer digital guys would come up, and his career was winding down, the young guys would always be looking at the back of their camera (he meant chimping on the LCD) and he would always beat them out, because they missed so many shots while they were looking at their work.
I thought that was great advice, and ever since he told me that last year, I've tried to cut down on doing that, especially once I've got my settings dialed in!

It is great that the sailor married the girl he was on a "date" with that day....and she wasn't the one being kissed.....
Rich...great story, I want to say I just saw an interview with your acquiantance, but I can't find it. But I remember him talking about that photo.

Thanks Brant, but I'm not sure if that was him, as I saw him recently and he didn't say anything about it.

My friend was not the only photographer to get that shot, as I've seen that same pose from different angles.
Here is another view, from a different photographer, however Ted kennedy and Caroline Kennedy are blocked by the Honor Guard.
