    Whales!

    Hello All;

    I've been away most of last month so haven't posted in awhile, but I'll try to make up for that now with some pics from the trip! One of the things I did while away was to go on a photo whale watching tour in Maui. Here are some of my favorite whale shots from the trip. All are shot with the 5d3 and 70-200 f4 IS w/ 1.4x II extender. Most shots are only cropped slightly (not easy to keep the horizon straight on a rocking boat!). Click for a larger image.

    It's really amazing how far these big mammals can jump out of the water!

    Thanks for looking.

    Great photos!!! The "Synchronized Swimming" is indeed one OUTSTANDING photo! Great catch, timing is difficult for those kind of shots.

    That third shot is absolutely mind blowing. Bravo.
    The rest are great as well, but that one really stood out for me.

    Great set. And I agree with the others, the third one is fantastic.

    Thanks a lot Bill, David and Pierre! The two whales in sync is definitely my favorite as well. When they first breached I wasn't sure whether I got the shot or not since the boat was rocking a lot and it was hard to tell if I even got the whales fully in the frame or possibly just water or the sky! When I checked the photo back on land I was thrilled: both whales in the frame and crisp focus! That shot made the trip for me!
