This doesn't have a whole lot to do with photography, but I thought that someone may have a good idea about a home movie projector. I am have the type of personality that I have to read reviews and really dig into anything new that I am going to buy. TVs, I have bought a few so I know what I am looking for. However, I am looking into a new realm for a home theater/gaming projector and I am stumped. There are so many reviews and differing opinions in the matter that I have reached my fill of information.

A little back story...
We previously had a 50 inch LED tv set up for movie viewing and gaming for the family. During a competitive game of Wii bowling, a remote was tossed during a bowing motion and struck the TV. Many tears were cried and I would really love to avoid this in the future. Prices of large LED TVs and projectors that would suit the needs I am looking for are about the same, so we have decided to go the projector route. If a remote slips off the little guys arm again it would just put a dent in the wall. Much more easily fixed.

This is in our basement and would more than likely have our basement lights on in some respect during gaming. So I am looking for something relatively bright, but under $1000. I really like the new crop of LED projectors, but I don't think 700 to 1000 lumens is really going to cut it for brightness in the basement with the lights on.

So question is, do any of you have home projectors? LCD or DLP? Any suggestions from the group as to what would be a good choice? I have asked for varied opinions on things in the past and this community hasn't steered me wrong yet.

Thanks everyone!
